Your Colours, Your Window, Your Call
Muse fits a smaller window, finds things by colour with a click, shows YouTube thumbnails, and puts its anonymous usage counts under your control.
- Muse now fits itself to a smaller window. With the Info panel open, or the window pulled in, the cards settle into fewer columns so every title stays readable, and the selection bar and Info panel keep every word on screen.
- Colours you can search. Hold Command and click any colour dot on a card or in the Info panel to see everything in your library in that colour. A plain click copies the colour code, as before.
- YouTube videos wear their thumbnail. With Link Previews on, a saved video shows its cover picture straight from YouTube.
- A new Share Anonymous Usage switch in Settings > About. Muse only ever counts app launches and purchases, never your data, and now you can turn even that off. The switch changes nothing else: your licence and trial work exactly as before.
- Escape steps you back one layer at a time: out of Info, out of a search, out of a collection, home to All.
- The traffic lights now sit on the same line as the sidebar button and the collection's name.

Muse, Now In Safari
Everything the Muse extension does in Chrome and Firefox now works in Safari, and Settings has a Browser tab for adding it to any browser.
- Everything the Muse extension does in Chrome and Firefox now works in Safari: right-click saving, the in-page Web Clipper, and your X bookmarks and Instagram saved posts. It comes with Muse, so just turn it on in Safari > Settings > Extensions. It needs Safari 18.4 or later.

The freeform board opens in a blink at any size, every link gets its picture, and Settings gains two ways to start again.

Emails You Can Actually Find
Save an email the way you save anything else, and find it again by what it says.
- Drag an email straight from Mail into Muse. It arrives named by its subject and its sender, and shows a readable card of the message in your library rather than a plain file.
- Every word inside the message is searchable, so an email comes back from the thing you actually remember about it: a name in the second paragraph, a date, a price.
- Anything attached to that email arrives as its own item, named, tagged, and filed alongside the message it came with. A photograph somebody sent you sits in your library like any other picture, and the email's card names what came with it.
- Emails are tagged from their own words, the same way a saved link is.
- PDFs and documents now arrive tagged too, and searchable by the words printed on the page. Save an invoice and you can find it by what is on it.
- Improved reliability of the window controls in the top corner. If you ever noticed the close, minimise and full screen buttons not responding, this update resolves that.
- Enter Full Screen and Exit Full Screen both sit in the View menu, alongside Control Command F, so you can go either way from the menu bar.

Select With A Drag
Drag to select, reach everything from the menu bar, and bring your Pinterest boards in.
- Drag across the grid to draw a box over several things at once. Hold Shift or Command while you drag to add to what you have already picked. Cmd-click and Shift-click work alongside it, and Cmd A takes everything in view.
- Copy and paste work the way they do everywhere else on your Mac. Select a picture, press Cmd C, and paste it straight into another app. Copy something anywhere else, press Cmd V in Muse, and it lands in the collection you are looking at.
- The menu bar now holds everything Muse can do, arranged by what you are trying to get done. New Collection and Export a Copy in File, the four ways of looking in View, a Go menu for search and every part of your library, and an Item menu for whatever you have selected. Cmd F opens search, Cmd Delete moves things to the Trash, and Cmd Shift Delete empties it.
- Pinterest joins the other imports in Settings under Import & Export, and Muse reads a Pinterest export whichever part of it you choose. Your boards arrive as collections with your pins inside them. Pinterest's export holds no pictures itself, so Muse fetches each one afterwards: a 2,000-pin account comes to roughly 600 MB and needs to stay online while it works.
- Save a web page you have saved before and the capture card tells you, naming the collection it is already in. It still saves it, because keeping something twice is sometimes what you meant.
- Hovering the icons at the top of Settings names each one below, so you can tell where you are going before you click.

Collections In Every View
Collections appear in List and Timeline, and you choose the picture one leads with.
- List and Timeline show a collection's sub-collections next to its items. In List they are rows with a count, and a click opens them. In Timeline they sit above the dates, lined up with the pictures below. Whichever view you prefer, a collection now shows everything it holds.
- Any picture inside a collection can be its cover. Right-click one, choose Set as Board Cover, and it moves to the front of the stack. The cards behind it carry on updating on their own, so the board still shows what has arrived recently. Right-click again to hand the choice back to Muse.
- In dark mode the frames around your collection pictures are dark as well, in the grid, on the drop ring that appears when you drag a file in, and on the shelf.

Your Pocket Library, Dates And All
Muse reads a Pocket export, and imported saves keep the dates they were saved on.
- Pocket is now one of the sources Muse imports from, named in Settings and in the welcome flow. Choose your ril_export.html and your links arrive with their titles, their tags, the date you saved each one, and your Unread and Read Archive sections as two collections. Pocket closed in 2025 and there is no way to export again, so the file sitting in your Downloads is the only copy there will ever be; this reads all of it.
- Anything you import keeps its original save date, so a library built up over years arrives spread across those years instead of arriving all at once. This applies to Raindrop and browser bookmarks as well as Pocket. If you imported before today, Muse restores those dates the first time you open it, so your existing library gets its history back too.

Space To Grow
Two of the most requested things, and everything about backups in one place.
- You can empty the Trash. Right-click Trash in the sidebar, or type "empty trash" into the Cmd K search. Muse asks first, then clears those items for good and moves their files to your Mac's Trash, so the files themselves can still be put back from the Finder. If you ever found things you could not clear out of Muse, this update resolves that.
- Your library can live wherever there is room. Settings, then Library, then Change moves it to an external drive or any folder you like. Muse copies everything across, checks the copy is complete before it switches over, and leaves your original folder exactly as it was.
- Backups now include the preview images for your links, so a restored library looks right straight away rather than fetching them all again.
- Typing a command's name into the Cmd K search puts that command first.
- Every backup setting now sits together in a single Backup section.

Muse now uses about half the memory it used to, and gives back what it stops using.

- Filing something into a collection from the capture card now always puts it there. If anything you saved ever seemed to go missing afterwards, open your Inbox and you will find it waiting.
- The Muse extension for Firefox is live, and Muse links straight to it.
- Shelf placement is a single control. The shelf sits centred on your screen, and you choose how far in from the side it sits.
- Settings keeps every tab and every control, with a few moved to where you would look for them. Sidebar Counts now sits beside Theme, full screen behaviour has its own Viewing section, and the Library tab reads Your Files, Import and Export, and Backup.

Moving Muse Between Macs
Freeing a Mac from your licence is now something Muse confirms rather than assumes.
- When you deactivate a Mac, Muse waits to hear that the slot really has been freed before letting go of your licence. If it cannot reach the licence server, nothing changes and this Mac stays licensed, so you can simply try again once you are back online.
- Settings tells you when that happens, rather than leaving you to wonder. If you ever deactivated a Mac while offline and later found yourself short of a slot, this update prevents that.
- Your three Macs stay yours: a slot can now only be given up when it is genuinely handed back.

Your Licence, In Plain Sight
Everything about your licence now lives in one place, and entering a key tells you exactly what happened.
- Settings now has a Licence section showing where you stand: your trial, or that Muse is yours, along with the email your purchase was made with.
- You can enter your key whenever you like. If you buy Muse partway through your trial, you no longer have to wait for the trial to finish before Muse will take your key. If you bought early and could not find where to put your key, this update resolves that.
- Activating now confirms itself, so you can see it has worked rather than wondering.
- Pressing Activate more than once is safe. Muse recognises a Mac it has already activated and re-checks your licence instead of using another of your three device slots.
- If your key is already on three Macs, Muse now says so and tells you what to do about it.
- Deactivating this Mac is a single button in Settings, so you can move Muse to another machine yourself.
- The key field clears when you click into it, so your key can go straight in from the clipboard.
- Cmd K finds all of this by searching for licence, key, activate or purchase.

A Quicker, Steadier Preview
Previewing is faster to move through, videos look right from the first frame to the last, and Muse reopens where you left it.
- Moving between items is immediate. Close a preview and the next thing you click opens straight away, with no pause in between. If you ever found yourself clicking twice, or waiting for an image to light up before it would respond, this update resolves that.
- Previews now show the picture the moment they open, rather than starting empty and filling in.
- Every video gets its opening frame, including large and high-resolution ones.
- Closing a video keeps it playing all the way back into your grid, so the whole motion reads as one piece.
- Clicking a video closes the preview, exactly the way clicking an image does. Play and pause live on the controls that appear over the video.
- Muse reopens in the same place on your screen, at the same size, every time. If you ever noticed the window moving between launches, this update resolves that.

The Extension Is Live
A calmer first run, and the Muse extension is on the Chrome Web Store.

One Home Per Item

- An item now lives in one collection, and dragging it somewhere new moves it there rather than leaving a copy behind. If you ever dropped something into a collection and found it still sitting in the old one, this is the change you were after.
- Want the same link in two places? Save it twice and give each one its own name. Muse keeps them as separate entries, each with its own collection, tags and note.
- When the capture card appears, the title stays selected until you touch it, so you can type a new one straight away or press Tab to keep the one Muse found.
- Your existing library is tidied automatically on first launch. Anything that was filed in more than one place keeps the collection you filed it into most recently, and where two were filed at the same moment it keeps the more specific one.
