92% CPU time being used by Shiny. My M2Pro MacBook Pro 16GB RAM was more stable after turning Shiny off.

Mark, thanks for sending this in - we're picking up on the CPU usage you're experiencing and getting someone to look into it properly. We'll post an update here as soon as we have something to share.

Mark, thanks for taking the time to send this in.

We've measured Shiny's regular background work on our side and it's very light: the system check runs for about a millisecond every two seconds, and the menu bar icon costs a fraction of that. So this isn't something running flat out for everyone, which means we'd like to narrow down the conditions on your Mac specifically.

The quickest way to pin it down exactly: with Shiny running, open Activity Monitor, select Shiny in the list, click the three dots in the toolbar and choose Sample Process, then Save and send us the file. That shows us precisely where the time is going and saves us guessing.

It would also help to know whether you have Edge glow switched on, in Settings under Screen.

Separately, 1.0.47 is out today with a set of improvements across the app. It's worth updating, though it isn't related to what you've reported here.
