Just downloaded and not replacing words

Hi,
I just downloaded Charm and gave it its permissions and turned off Apple's spell checker. I downloaded the smaller, quicker model and nothing is happening. Also tried the larger model and nothing is happening then too. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Josh, thanks for getting in touch, and welcome to Charm. Turning off Apple's spell checker was the right move. Here's a quick way to check everything is set up and get Charm correcting for you:

1. Check Charm is on. Click the Charm icon in your menu bar. The pill at the top should say Active; if it says Inactive, click it. If there's a notice at the top of that menu, follow what it says.
2. Check both permissions. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security, and make sure Charm is switched on under both Accessibility and Input Monitoring. They're two separate lists, so it's easy to have one on and the other off.
3. Quit and reopen Charm. Click the Charm icon, choose Quit, then open Charm again from your Applications folder. macOS often only lets Charm start reading your typing once it has been reopened after the permissions are granted.
4. Try a quick test. Open TextEdit and type "teh" followed by a space. It should become "the". Charm fixes each word as soon as you press space or add punctuation after it.
5. If TextEdit works but another app doesn't, open Charm's Settings > Customise and make sure that app is set to Auto. Code editors start on Manual, and a few online document editors, such as Google Docs, don't allow fixes as you type. In those, select your text and press Option-Command-V.

The AI models help with grammar and with choosing the best fix, but spelling corrections work without them, so the test above works either way.

If Charm still isn't correcting after these steps, open Charm's Settings > Diagnostics and press Send. That emails us a short report so we can see exactly what's happening.

Any other issues or feedback, please just get back in touch and let us know.
