Unexplainable "fixing"...

BugCompleted
Jul 2

I used option-cmd-v to fix this sentence:

"CrushFTP is set to 8GB now. You should be able to safely increase CrushFTP to 12 or 14GB of that 19GB."

...it had no mistakes but I hadn't taken time to proofread it so iw as hitting fix on it regardless. It came up with this much worse version...

"CrushFTPi s set to 8GB now. You should be able to safely increaseC rushFTP to 12 or 14GB of that 19GB."

........the fix made it much worse....like maybe it undid all my typos that had gotten fixed as I was typing before? If I then try and "fix" that broken sentence again....it gets even worse and adds more characters in the wrong places.... Really can't understand the logic and how its badly fixing things.

Thanks for the detailed write-up. That kind of specific example is genuinely useful, and it's exactly what the latest update refines.

Charm 1.0.55 (out now via Check for Updates) improves how Fix Selection handles text that's already correct. It now leaves your writing exactly as you wrote it, including product and code names like CrushFTP, and only steps in when there's a genuine spelling slip to fix. A sentence that's already clean comes back untouched.

If you ever saw Fix Selection adjust the spacing on text that didn't need it, this update resolves that. Update and give it another run, and it should sit quietly now. Thanks again for reporting it so clearly, that's exactly what helps us make Charm better.

Its definitely improved now. I see it sometimes "fixing" https:// links and destroying my links...but I can't replicate that on demand. I just have to notice it and hit undo when I see it do that.
