Good news, Ben - this is sorted in Charm 1.0.59 (rolling out now).
Charm is now more careful to leave your wording alone: it won't turn a short typo into an unrelated word like a name, and it never adds punctuation that reshapes your sentence. On your example it leaves the text exactly as you wrote it, rather than rebuilding it around the wrong word.
The before-and-after you included made this quick to pin down, so thank you for that. Grab the update via Check for Updates whenever suits.
